This car was parked here Saturday morning (WHY DO THEY ALWAYS PARK RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SIGN!?!?!) The houses on this street have fairly long driveways and all of the adjacent driveways were empty.

E. 10th & S. Sherman
E. 10th Ave. and Sherman St., Spokane, WA
Pix taken around 6:15pm. Another "two-fer"--partially blocking bike lane, partially on sidewalk. The bike lane sign at the corner just uphill from where the truck sits is obscured by tree branches, but there's a No Parking sign just downhill from their spot.

This vehicle may belong to the home owner. Just as I finished taking the photos, a man came out of the house on this southwest corner, stopped to check the mailbox, then got in the car and drove off.
Pix taken at about 5:45pm.

This person is now parking on the sidewalk. I guess that's an improvement, unless you want to use the sidewalk. (I was slow in posting this obviously. But today I rode by and got the correct license plate number.)

This is the northbound bike lane on Addison St near the intersection of Rockwell.
29th & Division
29th and Division, Spokane, WA
This SUV is almost always here, and it cracks me up every time. I appreciate the attempt to minimize the bike lane obstruction - I really do. But is it legal to park on the sidewalk instead, and force pedestrians to walk up in the yard, or out into traffic? Where do we live, Texas? Apologies to native Texans, of course...
Southeast Blvd
Southeast Blvd and 15th, Spokane, WA
This is the second vehicle in the post below, just after 6 AM on 9/17/08. Added separately so the license plate can be tracked in this database.
If these drivers live in the adjacent house, there is a wide open driveway available for parking, rather than illegally blocking the bike lane.
Southeast Blvd
Southeast Blvd and 15th, Spokane, WA
Lovely - it is always pleasant when you get the perp's vehicle right next to the sign clearly indicating the violation. This was at 6 AM, so both vehicles were likely parked here all night, not just illegally in the bike lane, but way over the solid white line and into the second lane.
This is a downhill section of the road on a slight curve, so a cyclist has little time to react to this hazard by checking for other traffic and then braking hard or swerving to avoid a collision. There are not that many bike lanes in Spokane - it should be rather simple for drivers to avoid parking in them!
The license plates and the pictures have been reported to the Spokane Police Dept at http://www.spokanepolice.org/ContactUs/default.aspx?type=traffic
If that does not encourage action, I will start calling to report each violation.
Click on the title of this post to see the first vehicle close up, and see the post above for the second vehicle close up.
29th near Dvision
29th between Brown and Division, Spokane, WA
This person seems to live in the house here. I've seen this car parked like this several times, at various times of the day (usually weekends) and evenings. I've seen, though not photographed, other cars parked in this manner, which I assume to be visitors. There can be no mistaking this is a bike lane the car is parked in, hence the attempt to "provide" some space.
29th near Bernard
29th and Bernard, Spokane, WA
I was driving home, saw the VW and decided to take a spin around the block and grab the picture. In those few minutes, the Jeep had pulled over. The Jeep driver was on the phone, which I'm guessing is a byproduct of the new "hands free" cell phone law, but who knows. The VW, on the other hand, had no one near. That sign in the background is a "turn lane" sign on top and a "no parking, bike lane" on the bottom.
