Southeast Blvd

Observed by Schrauf on Wed, Sep 17 2008

Lovely - it is always pleasant when you get the perp's vehicle right next to the sign clearly indicating the violation. This was at 6 AM, so both vehicles were likely parked here all night, not just illegally in the bike lane, but way over the solid white line and into the second lane.

This is a downhill section of the road on a slight curve, so a cyclist has little time to react to this hazard by checking for other traffic and then braking hard or swerving to avoid a collision. There are not that many bike lanes in Spokane - it should be rather simple for drivers to avoid parking in them!

The license plates and the pictures have been reported to the Spokane Police Dept at http://www.spokanepolice.org/ContactUs/default.aspx?type=traffic

If that does not encourage action, I will start calling to report each violation.

Click on the title of this post to see the first vehicle close up, and see the post above for the second vehicle close up.

Thanks for posting that link. I've just been posting the photos with descriptions of the spot. I didn't know we could actually report them. I like that.

I am starting to take pictures of bicyclers breaking laws like not stopping for stop signs going around cars stopped at red lights riding in the car lanes and sidewalks.Riding down the middle of streets not in bike lanes.I like this us versus them mentality of the bicyclers.
